Dean Medwid

 

Dean MedwidRecently has Dean Medwid ventured on his own following his true passion in brand management. Dean has a very diverse but successful work history and he believes that we are all a sum of our experiences. This mantra has made Dean a valuable asset to any brand.


 

Upon finishing College Dean began working as a Paramedic for the City of Calgary
before becoming a police officer and serving on the force for 11 years, 6 of which were
in the tactical support - Canine division. Meanwhile Medwid owned several successful
businesses all involving sales, marketing and distribution.


One such business, Bean Brothers Coffee became so successful that he funneled all his
professional efforts towards it eventually signing an exclusive deal to market Seattle’s
Best Coffee in Alberta. Eventually Dean merged his business with Whitefish in 1998 to
create a national brand management company that specialized in foodservice and retail
distribution.


Dean has successfully managed brands such as Seattle’s Best Coffee, Tiger Tiger ethnic
meals, Tomas Achaval and Kooyong wineries only to mention a few. Dean utilized over
20 distribution partners and served over 1200 customer relationships including Intrawest,
Mac’s convenience stores and Loblaw.


The company that Dean partnered in has been on Profit magazines list of fastest growing
companies in Canada for five years, as well as Business in Vancouver’s list of BC’s
fastest growing companies. Medwid also earned recognition as one of Business in
Vancouver’s top 40 under 40 executives in 2006.


Medwid has completed entrepreneurial programs at MIT and has attended Young
Entrepreneur Organization universities all over the world. Dean has served on the board
of directors for EO in Vancouver and has also dedicated his time to the 17th Ave Business
revitalization zone in Calgary as Chairman of the Board.


Outside of the office, Medwid is a dedicated father who coaches hockey and
baseball and enjoys spending time fly-fishing on the lakes and rivers in Canada.
